ANDERSON MAKES BUDGET CUTS

Director WES ANDERSON has slammed the huge budget on his last film THE LIFE AQUATIC - because the money took its toll on the movie's stars, including BILL MURRAY. The budget of $50 million (GBP25 million) allowed the filmmaker to shoot underwater scenes on elaborate sets, but ultimately meant the film was a large, complicated production. However, the experience did teach the 38-year-old a valuable lesson - Anderson cut the budget of newest film The Darjeeling Limited down by two-thirds. He tells London's Time Out magazine, "I didn't like the process. The actors found it difficult. Bill Murray was frustrated because of how slowly we were working. "I walked away from it with the feeling that I wanted my process to be different. For such a strange movie, it's too expensive. We made this new movie (The Darjeeling Limited) for a third of that."
