AMY WINEHOUSE ENTERS REHAB
Amy Winehouse has entered rehab in her battle against drugs, the singer's record company has confirmed.
The admission comes days after a video reportedly showing the 24-year-old smoking crack cocaine was published in the UK press.
Universal record company said the decision to enter a drugs rehabilitation facility had been made jointly between Winehouse and her management, family and doctors.
A planned appearance at the NRJ awards in France has been cancelled, the label said, but the singer is still expected to perform at the Grammy awards in February.
"She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy awards," a statement revealed.
"Amy entered the facility by mutual agreement and continues to receive the full support of all concerned."
Universal described Winehouse as the "most talented and important musical artist of her generation", adding that she had already made "huge strides" to beating her drug addiction.
"Universal Music Group wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfil her incredible potential with the label," the statement continued.
"The label has always had the best interests of Amy at heart and has been guided by her family and doctors in the last few months as to the best direction to take.
"All concerned feel that Amy must put her health before all considerations and will be by her side whenever and wherever they are needed."
Earlier, Winehouse's father Mitch told BBC radio he wanted his daughter sectioned to help her with her addictions.
