ALT BLAMES CANCER FOR FAILED MARRIAGE

Supermodel CAROL ALT has blamed her battle with cervical and uterine cancer for causing her divorce from professional hockey player RON GRESCHNER, according to new court documents.
The beauty filed the papers in her $9 million (GBP5.5 million) lawsuit against Greschner ahead of the hearing on Tuesday (28Oct08) in Manhattan federal court.
Alt claims she was cheated out of her share of an $18 million (GBP11 million) profit from an investment made during their marriage - a charge Greschner alleges is an attempt by Alt to make his finances public.
According to the New York Post, court documents reveal the estranged pair finally decided to end their marriage because Alt "could not conceive" as a result of her diagnosis with cervical and uterine cancer.
The documents add: "because Greschner strongly desired children, the two decided that Greschner should be with someone who could so provide him."
Alt calls their 1997 split after 14 years of marriage "extremely amicable". The pair continued to live together for more than a year afterwards, and were "intimate with each other well after the separation agreement was executed" - but finally divorced in 2001 because Alt couldn't conceive.
