ALMODOVAR GETS HONORARY HARVARD DEGREE

Spanish director PEDRO ALMODOVAR has been feted with an honorary doctorate from the prestigious Harvard University in recognition of his film work.
Almodovar donned the traditional black cap and red gown as he was presented with the arts degree during the Massachusetts school's commencement ceremony on Thursday morning (04Jun09).
The celebrated filmmaker admits he is delighted to land the accolade - because he never took his education further than high school.
He says, "I didn't go to university. I'm a self-taught person, yet my work is exhaustively studied here.
"I was thrilled to receive the news, but I'm really enjoying it now."
And Almodovar joked about using the experience as inspiration for a future movie project, adding, "If I stay two more months I'll make a film."
Almodovar wasn't the only star to be honoured by Harvard University - jazz musician Wynton Marsalis was also the proud recipient of an honorary doctor of music degree.
