ALLEN: 'I HAD NO IDEA WHO MCSHANE WAS'
WOODY ALLEN had never heard of IAN MCSHANE before the actor auditioned for the veteran director's latest movie SCOOP, despite the phenomenal success of TV western series DEADWOOD. Allen cast MCShane opposite SCARLETT JOHANSSON in the upcoming film, but admits he had no idea who the Golden Globe-winning MCShane was. He says, "I was completely unaware of Ian. "It was one of those situations where my casting director sends in an actor I've never heard of and I thought he was perfect the minute he walked in."
