ALFIE INSPIRATION HAYWARD DIES
DOUGIE HOWARD, the man who inspired MICHAEL CAINE's 1966 film ALFIE, has died. He was 73.
He passed away at a London hospice on Saturday (26Apr08) after a long battle with a neurological disorder.
Howard owned a prestigious tailor shop, providing outfits for stars including Michael Caine, Terrence Stamp and Tony Bennett.
And his playboy lifestyle became the inspiration for the creation of the legendary character of Alfie Elkins - immortalised by Caine and then Jude Law in the 2004 remake.
