ALANIS TO STAR IN NEW PHILLIP DICK FILM
ALANIS MORISETTE is one talented lady. The Canadian songstress is set to try her hand at acting in a new movie based on a book by sci-fi writer Philip K Dick.
The 33-year-old is set to play Sylvia in RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH, a woman suffering from cancer who appears in the visions of a record label executive.
In the semi-autobiographic story, written by Dick in 1976 and published after his death in 1985, Sylvia, a glamorous singer, turns out to be an ordinary woman in reality who becomes the man's secretary and then, eventually, his soul-mate.
"I feel blessed to portray Sylvia and to be part of this story being told in film," said Alanis about the role.
The film has been written and directed by John Alan Simon and will be released in June next year.
Dick has had several of his stories adapted for the screen, including BLADE RUNNER, TOTAL RECALL and MINORITY REPORT.
