AL-QAEDA FOLLOWERS CONDEMN AL-JAZEERA
The Arab news channel Al-Jazeera, often accused by U.S. officials of being a mouthpiece for Al-Qaeda extremists, is now being accused of acting as a "collaborator with the Crusaders" by Arab militants. As reported by the Associated Press, the Al-Qaeda sympathizers claim that the network manipulated remarks made by Osama bin Laden's in his latest audiotape to make it appear that he was criticizing his loyal followers. "Some of you have been lax in one duty, which is to united your ranks," bin Laden said. "Beware of division. ... I advise myself, Muslims in general and brothers in al-Qaeda everywhere to avoid extremism among men and groups." But Al-Qaeda followers insisted that the words were taken out of context and misrepresented bin Laden's actual message of encouragement.
