AL FAYED REQUESTS POLICE ENQUIRY INFORMATION
LATEST: The father of DODI FAYED, the boyfriend of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES, has asked British police to surrender documents from a three year investigation into the pair's death.
Lawyers acting on behalf of MOHAMED AL FAYED today (21MAR07) requested coroner LADY ELIZABETH BUTLER-SLOSS procure the information, as holding back evidence would suggest there had been a cover-up at the upcoming inquest, which is due to open in October (07).
Former Metropolitan Police chief JOHN STEVENS investigated the deaths for three years, conducting hundreds of interviews including one with Diana's ex-husband PRINCE CHARLES.
Al Fayed's lawyer MICHAEL MANSFIELD says, "A lack of disclosure can be counterproductive to the effectiveness of the inquest system, give rise to unfounded suspicion that matters are being deliberately concealed by the police, (and) distract attention from the real issues."
Diana and Fayed were killed in a 1997 car crash in Paris, France.
