AKON PLEADS GUILTY TO THROWING FAN OFF STAGE
R 'n B star Akon has been ordered to do community service after pleading guilty to throwing a teenage fan off stage last year.
Audience member Abby Rosa claims to have suffered concussion when a teenage boy tossed off stage by Akon landed on her at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, north of New York City.
Akon - real name Aliaune Thiam - pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to do 65 hours of community service and pay a $250 (£160) fine.
The incident was caught on camera and published on video sharing website YouTube soon after the June 2007 concert.
The singer is said to have been provoked when he was allegedly struck by a missile thrown from the crowd.
The Senegalese-American is said to have called on security staff to find the apparent culprit and, after the 15-year-old boy was sent to the stage, Akon reportedly lifted him onto his shoulders and threw him into the crowd.
The teenager landed on Ms Rosa, who says she was later diagnosed with concussion.
Akon did not comment when leaving Fishkill Town justice course today.
His third album Freedom was released last month and debuted at number 7 in the US.
