AKON CANCELS CONCERT AFTER STAGE DISASTER

R+B star AKON has been forced to cancel a concert in Atlanta, Georgia after the stage collapsed, injuring bystanders. Crews were working to put up lights in preparation for the gig at Emory University on Thursday night (25Oct07) when a canopy came loose and caused one side of the stage to break away. Several people were injured in the incident, including a group of students and a drummer. Akon was not in the area at the time of the accident. An eyewitness told TMZ.com that fire crews and ambulances were on the scene and campus police cordoned off the area. The show was later cancelled due to safety fears.
