AIRPORT ARREST FOR RAPPER DMX AFTER COURT NO-SHOW

DMX has been arrested after failing to appear in court over driving and drug charges.

The rap star, real name Earl Simmons, was detained at Sky Harbour International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, after he skipped a court appearance relating to animal cruelty and drug possession charges.

And after being arrested twice in Florida last week - once for driving without a licence and once for attempting to buy marijuana and cocaine from an undercover police officer - the 37-year-old was arrested as he stepped off the plane in Arizona.

"He was supposed to be in court today in Arizona, but he was picked up as soon as he arrived," his attorney Murray Richman told MTV News.

"The arrest was a result of him being arrested in Florida. That arrest violated the strict conditions of his $7,500 (£3,772) bond in Arizona, which stated that he could not be arrested while on bail."

DMX was arrested in May at his home outside Phoenix on suspicion of animal cruelty and drug possession after officers found abused pit bull terriers, dog carcasses and marijuana when they searched his property.

"I believed that we had a good, viable defence in that case," Richman added, "but I'm sorry to say that Earl played into their hands when he got arrested for driving without a license and for being in a drug-prone area, which violated the terms of his bail."
