AIKEN LANDS SPAMALOT ROLE
AMERICAN IDOL star CLAY AIKEN is heading for Broadway as the star of Tony Award-winning musical MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT.
The singer will make his New York theatrical debut in January (07) when he joins the cast in the role of Sir Robin, a part originated by former Frasier star David Hyde Pierce.
Director Mike Nichols admits he can't wait to start working with the singer. He tells Playbill magazine, "Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice. Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character."
Aiken will begin his five-month run on 18 January (08).
