ADKINS' CONCERT TRIBUTE TO GRANDFATHER STIRS UP EMOTIONS

Country star TRACE ADKINS is struggling to perform a new tune he wrote about his grandfather live - because the song conjures up odd emotions for the gruff singer. The CHROME hitmaker penned THE STUBBORN ONE and recorded it for his new album DANGEROUS MAN but had no idea the song's lyrics would leave him choked up onstage. He says, "My grandfather fought colon cancer just like a dragon slayer. I mean, he held on longer than a good man should be able to. "He was just a tough, old-school guy from a different generation - just a bad hombre, and I loved him dearly. "When I was recording that song, I thought about him some, but I never broke down. Yet, the first time I ever tried to perform it live in front of an audience, I couldn't do it. I couldn't get through it. I was shocked, truly shocked. "I guess when I was recording it in the studio, I was alone with my thoughts, but when I was performing it live for an audience, it was like sharing something that I didn't know I could share."
