British singer ADELE was so stunned to be nominated for a Grammy award, she locked herself in the bathroom for an hour.
The British singer picked up four nods and took home gongs for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the ceremony on Sunday (08Feb09).
But the Chasing Pavements hitmaker admits she was so shocked she was nominated at all, she hid from her own mother who was visiting her at home.
She says, "I had forgotten about the announcements and I was told it was a long shot... I got an e-mail from (blogger) Perez Hilton saying I had been nominated for Best New Artist. So I locked myself in the toilet and cried for an hour. I didn't know I had been nominated for four. By the time I found out I was on my knees."
