ADAMS' HITCH-HIKER AUDIENCE

BRYAN ADAMS had an unusual way of promoting his songs while he was a struggling rocker - he showcased them to a hitch-hiker. The Canadian singer reveals how he was once so excited about previewing a new composition, he and and his songwriting partner/drummer Jim Vallance picked up a stranded passer-by just so they could hear her thoughts on the track. But the stranger wasn't very impressed. He recalls, "I remember finishing a song and Jim Vallance and I were driving down the street and we saw somebody hitch-hiking. So we stopped, picked her up and we played her the song. We were so desperate for someone to hear it because we were really excited about it. "The hitch-hiker - it was a girl I think - was like, 'OK, that's very nice, now can you just drop me off here?'"
