Actress Alice PLayten has died in hospital. She was 63.
The beloved Broadway star passed away on Saturday (25Jun11) after suffering heart failure at Sloan Kettering Hospital.
Playten made her Broadway debut in the original production of Gypsy and went on to star in Hello, Dolly! and Seussical, among other productions.
She also had recurring roles on Frasier, Law & Order and U.S. daytime soap As The World Turns.
She was nominated for a Tony Award in 1968 for her role in the musical Henry, Sweet Henry and a 1989 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Spoils of War).
