AARDMAN IS BACK WITH NEW SONY DEAL

British animation studio Aardman has signed a new deal with Sony Pictures, just two months after ending its partnership with DreamWorks. DreamWorks and Aardman went their separate ways at the end of January (07) after recent collaborations WALLACE + GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT and FLUSHED AWAY failed to succeed in the US. It was feared the collapse would spell the end for Aardman, but it yesterday (02APR07) announced a new deal with Sony - and that founder NICK PARK is planning a new Wallace + Gromit adventure. Aardman spokesman ARTHUR SHERIFF says, "It is with great pleasure that I can now announce our new feature film deal. Aardman has signed to SONY Pictures. "Nick Park is currently writing a new Wallace and Gromit adventure, when he's finished the script he will decide if it is a feature film or a TV Special." AMY PASCAL, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment says of the deal, "We have been huge fans of Aardman films for a long time and this deal greatly expands Sony's commitment to animation."
