A CONTRACT WRITTEN IN CLAY?

Dumped by DreamWorks Animation in January, "Wallace and Gromit" animators, Aardman Features has signed a three-year agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In a statement, SPE Chairman/CEO Michael Lynton said, "Aardman Features is enormously popular around the world. We believe that their strength is their unique storytelling humor, sensibility and style and we plan to bring their distinctive animated voice to theaters for a long time to come." Aardman's last film with DreamWorks Animation, Flushed Away, was regarded as a loser, even though it took in $176 million worldwide. It was the U.K. company's first computer-animated film, after previously developing features using the so-called Claymation technique, a far less expensive process.
