9/11 PUT DANDO'S LIFE INTO PERSPECTIVE
American rocker EVAN DANDO credits the reality of check of 9/11 with giving him the determination to leave his druggy past behind him and get back to writing music he is passionate about. The LEMONHEADS star hit rock bottom in 1995 when he was arrested on drug charges in Australia and deported back the US, where he checked into rehab to get treatment for heroin addiction. But Dando was still a heavy drinker until the tragic day in 2001 when terrorists flew planes into New York City's Twin Towers - while Dando was at home just a few blocks away. He says, "It was the completely shattering weird experience of 9/11. "That made me quit drinking."
