50 CENT DROPS 'DATED' HITS FROM ALBUM

Rapper 50 CENT has scrapped a number of "potential hit" songs on his forthcoming album BEFORE I SELF DESTRUCT, because he recorded them so long ago, they began to sound "dated".
The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, has been working on the follow up to 2007's Curtis for several months.
He was forced to halt production on the disc late last year (08) to allow acclaimed beatmaker Dr. Dre to focus on completing 50's mentor Eminem's new CD, Relapse.
50 and Dre recently returned to the studio - but the superstar admits he's dropped several singles from the tracklisting because he's sick of listening to them.
He tells MTV.com, "It's about 30 per cent of what I had when I felt like I was finished. The production, Dre made a lot more of the music that's on the actual album now. I rewrote some concepts.
"To me, sometimes it would sound like I'm absolutely out of my mind if I played you the music. But it gets dated. I've been playing it for myself for so long, I'm no longer as excited as I was when I wrote it for the first time."
