£45 FILM MAKES AN IMPACT AT CANNES

A film made for just £45 could be the surprise star of this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by Welshman Marc Price, zombie flick COLIN takes a new slant on a classic genre by telling the story through the eyes of the walking dead and has already caught the eye of studio bosses after being shown over the weekend.

The movie was filmed over an 18-month period, with the cast and make-up artists being persuaded by Price to give their time for free, reports Wales Online.

In fact the biggest expenses were a crowbar, some mini DVD tapes and tea and coffee for the crew.

"We've made a film for next to nothing and, in the current economic climate, that seems to be something that people are very interested in," Price told the news provider.

The director, who has no formal film-making training, has already started plans for his next project, a WWII horror movie and has hinted that he may even splash out on a budget of £100.

Cannes is running until May 24th and planned screenings include QUENTIN TARANTINO's INGLOURIOUS BASTEREDS and SPIDER-MAN director SAM RAIMI's DRAG ME TO HELL
