3 DOORS DOWN DONATE TO KATRINA VICTIMS
US rockers 3 DOORS DOWN took time out of recording and performing to present two cheques to Hurricane Katrina victims. Hurricane Katrina devastated parts of Louisiana, Alabama and the group's native Mississippi last summer (29AUG06). Guitarist MATT ROBERTS presented a $25,000 (GBP13,800) cheque to his old school, the Resurrection Catholic School in Pascagoula on Tuesday (08AUG06), to replace library books damaged in the storm. In the nearby town of Gautier, bandmate CHRIS HENDERSON donated $75,000 (GBP41,600) to local aid group Presbyterian Disaster Assistance volunteers. Henderson says, "I ride by here every day I'm home, and this is my community, and it's incredible the work they've been doing for our local folks and communities, not only here in Gautier, but all over the coast. We're very glad to be able to help."
