YANNI: 'MY NIGHTMARE IS OVER'

Greek new age music star YANNI has thanked his fans for their unfaltering support after he was falsely accused of hitting girlfriend SYLVIA BARTHES. Yanni spent 11 hours in a Florida jail after the March (06) incident which saw him only grab Barthes' arm - but his fans never doubted his innocence. He tells the New York Daily News, "My fans have been very supportive. I have not gotten one single negative comment when I'm walking around. People walk up to me, look me in the eye, and tell me, 'I believe you.' "It was a very painful incident for me and my family in particular. She just lost it for a second. I wasn't afraid for my life or anything. Sometimes couples get into arguments and it escalates a little too much."
