American actress ROBIN WRIGHT PENN has hit out at treatment of fashion models, after experiencing first hand the cruel nature of the business. The wife of actor SEAN PENN was an aspiring supermodel in her teens, but had to appear in lingerie catalogues and advertisements for fashion and beauty products, after being told she was too short for the catwalk by top modeling agencies. She says, "You had no power, will, ability to be yourself and aggressive and fend them off... I was very shy, didn't have a healthy self-esteem... it just floored me."
