WINFREY MISSED OUT ON DOUBT
OPRAH WINFREY missed out on a role in DOUBT when director JOHN PATRICK SHANLEY chose VIOLA DAVIS over her.
Winfrey revealed the news while chatting to the film's star Meryl Streep on her U.S. talk show on Tuesday (13Jan09).
She said she asked to audition to play Mrs. Miller in the film because she felt a connection to the story and wanted to work with Streep.
But Winfrey lost out to Davis, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe for the role. She's also hotly tipped to land an Oscar nod.
The media mogul says, "He (Shanley) turned me down and said no and gave me all the reasons why it would be no, and I think it was actually the best decision."
