British rocker PAUL WELLER turned down the chance to be made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by QUEEN ELIZABETH II in her New Year Honours list. The 48-year-old received a letter offering him the prestigious accolade but rejected it, following the lead of veteran rocker DAVID BOWIE, who also snubbed the honour in the past. Weller's spokeswoman confirms, "Paul was surprised and flattered, but it wasn't really for him."
