SIGOURNEY WEAVER - WEAVER HATES HOLLYWOOD

Acclaimed actress SIGOURNEY WEAVER has lashed out at Hollywood culture, insisting it promotes an impossible body image in women. Weaver, who will turn 57 next month (08OCT06), hates Los Angeles because the city makes her feel unattractive - and she believes the LA blondes women are supposed to be competing with are not the best role models to aspire to. Weaver says, "No one there really tells you the truth. They all flatter you to draw you in and then stand back when there's trouble. I've always felt more role models comfortable in New York - everyone's racing around thinking they are doing the most important thing in the world. Women are more comfortable with who they are. "In Los Angeles, beauty is very tanned, blonde, white and thin and everyone is under pressure."
