CARRIE UNDERWOOD - UNDERWOOD TO JOIN GRAND OLE OPRY

Singer CARRIE UNDERWOOD has accepted an invitation to join country music mecca the Grand Ole Opry. The 25-year-old was asked to become a member of the Nashville, Tennessee country institution by Opry member Randy Travis on Saturday (15Mar08). Underwood had just finished performing his song I Told You So onstage at the Grand Ole Opry when Travis made his offer. The 2005 American Idol winner said backstage, "I feel like I just won something all over again." Underwood, who has scored six consecutive number ones on the U.S. country singles chart, will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on 10 May (08).
