TRUMPETER CHILDERS DIES
Veteran trumpeter MARION 'BUDDY' CHILDERS has died after complications from cancer. He was 81.
A self-taught musician, Childers passed away at his home in Woodland Hills, California last Thursday (24May07).
Born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, he played lead trumpet in the big bands of jazz stars Stan Keaton and Tommy Dorsey. He went on to lead his own band.
Twice married, Childers is survived by his five children with his first wife Jan Belardes. His second wife Carol died in 2002.
