24 - T.I. OUT ON BAIL, UNDER HOUSE ARREST OVER WEAPONS CHARGES

Rapper T.I. has been released from jail on $3 million (GBP1.5 million) bail, but must remain under house arrest as he awaits trial on illegal weapons charges. The hip-hop star - real name Clifford Harris - was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia on 13 October (07) by federal agents who claim he took possession of three machine guns and two silencers that a bodyguard purchased on his behalf. On 19 October (07), T.I. pleaded not guilty to illegal weapons charges but spent the next week in jail while Georgia Judge Alan Baverman considered whether to grant him bail. Judge Baverman came to his decision on Friday (26Oct07), and released T.I. on the condition he remains at a home in Henry County, will be monitored 24 hours a day and must pay for the monitoring service himself. T.I. was also ordered to have no contact with witnesses or informants involved in the case, and cannot own any firearms.
