SONIC YOUTH - THURSTON MOORE: 'LAVIGNE AND MAYER ARE LAME'
SONIC YOUTH frontman THURSTON MOORE has hit out at AVRIL LAVIGNE and JOHN MAYER, insisting 70 year olds rock harder than they do.
The rocker recently collaborated with Yoko Ono, and claims she is edgier than most modern artists.
He tells Spin magazine, "I am playing with Yoko Ono, and she's well past 70 and she rocks. Neil Young rocks. It's certainly not John Mayer or Avril Lavigne. Those people don't rock. If that's the young generation in the culture, then (forget) it. In the underground, the old guys are cool. I like the fact that the older we get the more we can rock."

John Mayer is a blues man. He is interested in making music not just noise.
He has plenty of fans and has touched many, many people with his songs and is
not in need of approval from 70 year olds who live in the past. A few quick
recaps on the guy who can't rock like "Yoko Ono" .....
under 30 years of age and he has been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of
Fame and he has earned 5 Grammys. All three studio released albums have won
awards not to mention the first time he set out to produce his own album he won
Grammy's.
His just for fun project of the John Mayer Trio though didn't win was at least
nominated for a Grammy, something that he loved was widedly recognized.
Now that you have your jealousies out of the way...
sit back down in that rocking chair and rock on!
John Mayer was declared as one of the new
"guitar gods" by Rolling Stone Magazine.
A Little jealous are we Thurston? I've never even heard of you.
