SMASHING PUMPKINS - THE POLICE + PUMPKINS GIVE VIRGIN FESTIVAL A BOOST

LATEST: Reunited rock acts THE POLICE and SMASHING PUMPKINS and the BEASTIE BOYS are helping to make the second US Virgin Festival a hot ticket by securing their spots on the line-up. The three acts will perform over the weekend of 4 and 5 August (07) at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The festival date has been moved to accommodate The Police's tour, and now the Virgin Festival will run the same weekend as the Lollapalooza gathering in Chicago, Illinois. A festival spokesman says, "It's not ideal, but, given the choice of booking The Police or not, we had to go for it." As previously reported, the Smashing Pumpkins will also play the Toronto, Canada Virgin Festival, alongside BJORK and THE KILLERS, in September (07).
