TEN DEAD AT INDONESIAN ROCK SHOW

A total of ten people have died at a rock concert in Indonesia, according to local police.

Hundreds of people were present at the concert in the city of Bandung with a large number of people waiting outside the already-packed venue in an attempt to get in.

An eyewitness told the local Pikrian Rakyat newspaper that a crush occurred as people outside the venue rushed to enter the hall.

"Outside, there were hundreds of people pushing to enter. They were pushing at the gate.

"Inside, there were also a lot of people who wanted to leave, because the hall was so packed that it was difficult to breathe," he added.

State-run news agency Antara reported the city's police chief Bambang Suparsono as saying that police had questioned the organisers of the concert and that free alcoholic drinks had been distributed at the venue.

Local media reports that most of the victims were teenagers and that some members of the audience had been acting in a disorderly manner after drinking at the concert.
