PATRICK SWAYZE - SWAYZE SLAMS STAGE FRIGHT CLAIMS

PATRICK SWAYZE has hit out at claims he postponed his debut on London's West End stage because of stage fright. The actor was due to take his bow as NATHAN DETROIT in GUYS + DOLLS on 10 July, but pushed the date back to 24 July (06) after coming down with a throat infection. The 53-year-old is furious at rumours he lied about the illness and insists has no reason to be fearful. He says, "Stage fright? I've been doing this since I was born. I was raised and born into musical theatre. Sure fear can be a good thing, but when you spend your life doing this, you find a way to use it, to make it work for you. "Sick as I was, I've not stopped working. I kept coming into rehearsals. I've been like MARCEL MARCEAU, learning the choreography and the staging even though I couldn't speak."

I have booked to see Guys and Dolls, did this back in May of this year, soooooo
hope that Patrick will be well enough by then or it will be a wasted trip to
London. I think he is just amazing and no way would he have stage fright after
all the things he has done and achieved in his life. Please get well soon
Patrick.
I have worked with performers who suffer from Stage Fright and at no time has
Patrick Swayze ever exhibited any fear. There are 3 levels to Stage Fright
1. Fear of Public Speaking
2. Stage Fright
3. Performance Anxiety
If he has Stage Fright, I doubt that Patrick would have taken the part.
