Special screening of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' held at the Paramount Pictures Studios
Los Angeles, California ....
Sunday (18FEB07) proved lucky for London musical SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE - the STEPHEN SONDHEIM show scored five Laurence Olivier theatre awards.
The prize glut included Best Musical Actor and Actress for stars DANIEL EVANS and JENNA RUSSELL, as well as gongs for production, lighting and set design.
Meanwhile MONTY PYTHON musical SPAMALOT was surprisingly snubbed at the London ceremony, failing to convert any of its seven nominations.
ARTHUR MILLER's 1953 play THE CRUCIBLE proved its longevity when it was named Best Revival. The production also earned DOMINIC COOKE a Best Director award.
A special prize was given to opera singer SIR JOHN TOMLINSON. The star's lengthy career was feted at the ceremony, where he was hailed "internationally renowned for his definitive interpretations of a wide variety of roles".
