SUMMER SIGNS NEW RECORD DEAL

DONNA SUMMER is to release her first album in 17 years after signing a new record deal. The Hot Stuff singer, whose last LP was 1991's Mistaken Identity, has a new contract with Sony BMG subsidiary Burgundy Records, which will see her head back to the recording studio. Summer is reported to be working with the team who worked on Natasha Bedingfield's hit album Pocketful Of Sunshine and JR Rotem - famed for his work on Britney Spears' Blackout. Summer is delighted to be returning to music and hopes her fans will appreciate the element of nostalgia. She tells Billboard.com, "My dream is that when people hear the music it will remind them of their youth, their childhood and the joy and wonderment they felt exploring their first pack of crayons." The new LP is scheduled for release in May 2008.
