SUEDE - SUEDE SINGER SAVED FROM DEATH BY DOOR

Former SUEDE frontman BRETT ANDERSON was saved from sure death by his bedroom door when a falling tree ripped through his house during a storm 20 years ago. The British singer-songwriter was 20 years old when the infamous 1987 storm battered England, and was in bed when an oak tree came crashing onto his house. He explains, "I was woken up at about four in the morning by a tree breaking the spine of the house. A huge oak tree had toppled over and stopped two feet away from my head. "The only reason I'm alive now is because the door was shut. If it had been open, the door frame wouldn't have been strong enough to stop the tree."
