ELAINE STRITCH - STRITCH TO PAY STAGE TRIBUTE TO COWARD
Comedienne ELAINE STRITCH is embarking on a one-woman stage tribute to NOEL COWARD - at the age of 81. The beloved TWO'S COMPANY star will tread the boards in London in December (06) before transferring the unnamed show to Broadway, New York. The show, which features musical tributes and anecdotes to the legendary composer and writer, will mark Stritch's return to the work of Coward - the songsmith's WHY DO THE WRONG PEOPLE TRAVEL? became the comedienne's trademark tune after she performed it during her stint in SAIL AWAY on Broadway in the 1960s. Stritch received a 2002 Drama Desk Award for her performance in one-woman show, ELAINE STRITCH AT LIBERTY. The show also won Stritch an Emmy when it was broadcast on TV in America.
