STREISAND TICKETS SELL 'IN MINUTES'
Barbara Streisand's UK fans snapped up tickets for the London leg of her forthcoming European tour within minutes, it has been revealed.
The singer's representatives said that demand had been "phenomenal" and confirmed that tickets for a second gig at London's O2 Arena had sold out.
The extra date at the former Millennium Dome was added when places for an initial show, Streisand's first in the UK for 13 years, were snapped up by eager fans in less than half an hour on Friday.
"After her first show, on July 18th, sold out in 20 minutes the decision was made to add a second night on July 22nd. This has now also sold out," a spokeswoman for Streisand revealed in a statement.
Tickets for the singer's European tour, which will also feature gigs in Vienna, Dublin, Paris and Nice, are on sale for up to £600, meaning that watching the veteran star perform will come at a hefty price for hardcore fans.
But demand is such that tickets for the London concerts have already been placed up for sale on internet auction site eBay.
Streisand fans should perhaps heed the recently issued warning on her website, which reminds eager concert goers that buying tickets from touts "could lead to heartache".
Given the massive popularity of her recent shows, it is unlikely that the singer herself will experience any sorrow. Her manager has confirmed that the Hello Dolly star broke box office records for 14 of the 16 venues she played during her recent US tour.
