Hollywood actress MERYL STREEP did not think she was sexy enough for her role in OUT OF AFRICA - so displayed her cleavage in an attempt to win over director SYDNEY POLLACK. Streep feared her acting abilities were not enough to land the role of author Karen Blixon the 1985 film, so resorted to a padded bra and low-cut top to help boost her chances. She says, "I went to see the director, Sydney Pollack. I heard a whisper that he didn't think I was sexy enough for the part, so I went out and got a padded bra and a dreadful frilly low-cut blouse. I got the part. "I'm sure it was because of my acting ability, but I couldn't help wondering whether it had something to do with the enhanced cleavage."
