STONE TEMPLE PILOTS - STONE TEMPLE PILOTS REFORMED FOR LED ZEPPELIN GIG
The STONE TEMPLE PILOTS only reformed so they could be part of a LED ZEPPELIN world tour - if the legendary band ever decide to commit to a series of live dates.
The Stairway To Heaven hitmakers staged a reunion concert in London in December (07) and have left fans waiting to find out whether they will schedule any more shows.
Stone Temple Pilots followed with their own reunion - getting back together earlier this year (08).
And bassist Robert DeLeo admits part of the reason behind the group's decision to reform was so they could offer their services as an opening act for the veteran rockers.
He tells MTV.com, "Believe me, that was one of the reasons. We thought, 'We should get together now, in case Zeppelin does tour.'
"I'm serious, man. That would be one hell of a bill: STP and Led Zeppelin. I mean, we could play a doghouse, out in the middle of the ocean, and if I got to play with Zeppelin, that would be a highlight of my life."
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was previously touted as a possible support act for Zeppelin when he was a member of Velvet Revolver, but the rumours were strenuously denied by his former bandmate Slash.
Weiland was sacked from Velvet Revolver last month (Mar08) following a series of public disputes. The singer is now concentrating on a summer tour with Stone Temple Pilots.
