SHARON STONE - STONE + SARSGAARD LEFT RED-FACED OVER PRIZEGIVING BLUNDER

SHARON STONE and PETER SARSGAARD were left red-faced at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California yesterday (24FEB07) when they misplaced the envelope containing the winner of the ceremony's Producers Award. The two actors teamed up to present three honours, and after Stone had struggled to read the teleprompter, JARHEAD star Sarsgaard realised he had left the Producers Award envelope backstage. Stone turned to a puzzled Sarsgaard and said, "I handed it to you." The actor checked all his pockets and then looked to the wings of the tented venue on the beach, as the actress giggled, "Oh, for crying out loud," adding, "See what happens when you give it to guys." The couple eventually handed the Producers Award to SHORTBUS producers HOWARD GERTLER and TIM PERELL.
