STING JOINS MUSIC DRIVE
STING is encouraging youngsters to follow in his musical footsteps - he has become the latest star to join a campaign to give every child in London the chance to learn an instrument.
The Every Breath You Take hitmaker has donated a guitar to the No Strings Attached instrument drive, organised by Julian Lloyd Webber, the younger brother of theatre impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The superstar's bass will join 150 other instruments already collected, which will be distributed to youngsters in deprived areas of the British capital.
Former The Police frontman Sting insists he is happy to help encourage youngsters to pick up an instrument.
He says in a statement, "The music amnesty is a really important initiative. Young people deserve the chance to learn a musical instrument, whatever background they come from."
Sting joins other stars, including Madness frontman Suggs, in supporting the scheme.
