AEROSMITH rocker STEVEN TYLER has checked into rehab in California at the age of 60.

The singer's drug issues in the 1970's and 80's have been well documented, but it was thought that he had been clean for over 20 years.

However, the father of actress LIV TYLER is now reported to be struggling with an unspecified substance abuse problem.

According to US Magazine, Tyler, once known along with guitarist Joe Perry as 'The Toxic Twins', has checked into Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena.

The clinic is used as the setting for American reality TV show Celebrity Rehab.

Tyler was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, which can be contracted from drug paraphernalia, in 2003, but is now free of the disease.

AEROSMITH have had a hugely successful career, especially after their resurgence in the late 1980's, which saw them go on to release albums such as PERMANENT VACATION and PUMP.

Steven Tyler means the world to me. To see him going down that road really saddens me. I have been one to use during my 20's. I am a musician too, and thought drugs could make me more creative. The other factor was mental illness for me. I kept relapsing and relapsing due to drugs.. and not taking medications correctly. During my college stint I did all the wrong things. I did all the drugs I could consume. I became very sickly skinny. With God, music, Aerosmith's clean and sober story, and mental illness ( actually helped me get clean ). I know what it is like to live in a world where people that know you are clean will still try to pass you the joint. I love Aerosmith and hope they can survive another album. With Aerosmith, you just never know. I am not g oing to guess, time will tell. God bless to Aerosmith.
