LATEST: British entertainer TOMMY STEELE has confirmed he once gave ELVIS PRESLEY a tour of London - ending speculation the late star never visited England.
Presley was long thought never to have stepped foot in the country, only visiting neighbouring Scotland.
But it was reported earlier this week (begs21Apr08) that the King of Rock 'n' Roll visited his pal Steele in London at the age of 23.
And now Steele has confirmed the 1958 visit really did take place - although he regrets leaking the story to the press.
He says, "(I) swore never to divulge publicly (what happened).
"I can only hope he (Presley) can forgive me. It was an event shared by two young men sharing the same love of their music and the same thrill of achieving something unimaginable."
