STEVEN SPIELBERG - SPIELBERG MISSED OUT ON BOND FILM DREAM
STEVEN SPIELBERG missed out on directing a JAMES BOND film because producers feared he'd want too much of a cut of profits.
Former 007 Roger Moore reveals the movie mogul was interested in directing him in a Bond film - and told him so during a chance encounter in a French hotel.
Moore recalls, "He was a huge Bond fan and said that he would love to direct one of the films.
"He'd recently had great success with Jaws and Close Encounters and was considered a very hot property. I was rather excited at this news."
Moore admits he put the idea to Bond franchise producer Cubby Broccoli and was astonished by his response.
The actor adds, "He said, `Do you know how much of a percentage he'd want?' It's always been policy that no Bond director ever got a slice of the box office profits.
"So, Spielberg went off and made Indiana Jones, who I reckon to be a period James Bond!"
