STEVEN SPIELBERG - SPIELBERG BATTLES WITH HIS KIDS

STEVEN SPIELBERG battles to stop his kids watching his movies, but is sometimes tricked into backing down. The director is unsure when his youngest kids with second wife Kate Capshaw - Sawyer, 15; Mikaela Spielberg, 11, Destry, 11 - are old enough to check out his scarier movies, like Jaws and Indiana Jones. Spielberg explains, "Kids, even in the same family, mature at different rates. "They usually ask me to see Indiana Jones, which I think is fine for my younger kids." But Sawyer tricked him into letting him watch Jaws when he was 13: "Sometimes the kids outsmart me. He said, 'Dad, I was bar mitzvahed (Jewish ceremony to mark a boy's coming-of-age) last week. Everybody said today I'm a man, and you still won't let me see Jaws.'"

How funny! With all the flicks where the kids are disfunctional whiners, now
he's on the verge of hearing, "Gee, dad, did you model that on us? Yech. I
didn't think we were THAT bad."
