PHIL SPECTOR - SPECTOR'S ENGINEER DIES ON HIS 80TH BIRTHDAY

Music mogul PHIL SPECTOR has suffered another personal setback - his longtime 'Wall of Sound' engineer, LARRY LEVINE, has died.
Levine died on Thursday (08May08) while celebrating his 80th birthday party in Encino, California.
He is largely responsible for the famous Spector sound that came with hits by the Crystals, the Ronettes and the Righteous Brothers, among others.
Stan Ross, the studio boss at Santa Monica, California's Gold Star - where Levine and Spector created music history - insists the famous producer would have been nothing without the engineer.
Ross tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "He made Phil Spector a genius."
Levine's death comes as his former boss, Spector, awaits a retrial in his murder case. He is accused of shooting actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 2003.
