ASCAP - SOLIS LANDS LATIN SONGWRITER HONOUR

Latin Grammy Award-winning star MARCO ANTONIO SOLIS was named Songwriter Of The Year at the 15th Annual ASCAP Latin Music Awards in New York last night (21MAR07). The Mexican singer/songwriter, who has recorded over 20 albums, triumphed at the annual gala, which celebrates the songwriters and publishers of the most performed Latin songs. FRANCO DE VITA and JOAN SEBASTIAN also received special ASCAP honours for Career Achievement and three songs - MAS ALLA DEL SOL, UN BESO and DOWN - shared the Latin Song Of The Year honour. Songwriters who won multiple awards included MAURICIO L. ARRIAGA, KEV-Y, Sebastian and reggaeton star DADDY YANKEE.
